A Guest Services Associate is expected to provide frontline interface between the Canyon Country Discovery Center (CCDC) operations and its guests. The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable about the area while they provide exceptional customer service to guests. The Associate will be expected to provide knowledgeable information about the services offered by the organization. Primary duties will be staffing the information desk, monitoring the museum and climbing wall,  ensuring the facility is clean, helping with programs and events, working the cash register, cleaning duties (as assigned by facilities manager), and ensuring that guests have an exceptional educational experience.
This position reports to the Operations Director and Facilities Manager.

  • Honest, energetic, hard working, reliable, detail-oriented with a good basic problem solving skills.

  • Familiarity and competence with cash register, Square, and credit card handling.

  • Friendly outgoing personality with strong organizational skills and the ability to relate to persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds and stand for long periods of times.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and some evenings as required.

  • Must have ability to read, record, or type data quickly, and accurately.

  • Must have ability to handle stress in appropriate manner.

  • Must be open to new ideas and new tasks as we are ever changing.

  • Ability to work as a team member with other dynamic colleagues.

  • Affinity for the beauty and wonder of the Four Corners Area.




  • Must politely greet, wait on and serve guests.

  • Accurately and proficiently use a Point of Sales Cash Register, correctly count change and handle guest purchase transactions.

  • Provide friendly service to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, positive, and memorable experience to all CCDC guests.

  • Handle team member and guest questions and concerns in professional, polite, courteous, and constructive manner.

  • Oversee guest traffic flow in the exhibit hall, climbing wall, and sales areas in order to provide excellent service, reduce shrinkage, and ensure a safe and pleasant experience.

  • Study and learn about the products, services, and programs offered by the CCDC in order to provide knowledgeable information to our guests.

  • Assist in the receiving, [un]packing, processing, preparation and pricing of retail merchandise.

  • Maintaining guest book and data entry of guest information for ROI purposes using Square, Excel, Word and Google Docs.

  • Maintain merchandise displays while stocking-out product from the stockroom to the sales floor area.

  • Assist with scheduled events, star parties, including monitoring a small camp fire, helping move telescopes, etc.

  • Clean and maintain common areas (including but not limited to):

    • Picking up fallen products and debris from the sales area, stockroom, front hall, restrooms, and exhibit hall.

    • Clean and dust merchandise, fixtures, and equipment in the exhibit area, front halls and gift shop

    • Clean glass shelving and windows

    • Vacuum and spot clean carpet

    • Sweep and mop floors

    • Extra Cleaning duties assigned by the Facilities manager

  • Complete other duties as assigned.
