Adventure Program Manager
Title: Adventure Program Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Full-Time (March-October), Part-Time (November-February)
Compensation: $38,000-$45,000 (DOE) with Benefits
Location: Monticello, UT
Organization Overview:
Canyon Country Discovery Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit located in Monticello, UT. Our vision is to build a diverse community of people who support, foster and cherish the natural and cultural treasures of the Colorado Plateau. The mission of CCDC is to create lifelong learning experiences about the Colorado Plateau through adventure, education and stewardship.
Position Overview:
The Adventure Program Manager will be responsible for the development, management, and overall physical inventory and assets of Canyon Country Discovery Center’s Ed-Venture Program. This includes repairs, maintaining inventory logs, organizing the bay, and preparing equipment for trips (including food shopping). This position will also be responsible for purchasing new equipment as determined by need and organizational ability. This position also requires availability and relevant skill set to guide trips, based on need.
Responsibilities:

Develop/coordinate and implement Adventure Trips to support the mission of CCDC

River Tours

Land-based Tours

Hire, train and supervise Trip Leaders and Guide Staff

Develop and maintain relationships with outdoor industry representatives

Manage all Adventure Trip logistics including: management of public lands permitting, insurance, maintenance of equipment, and all trip-related paperwork to ensure a high quality guest experience

Modify/Implement CCDC’s Risk Management and/or Emergency Management plans, manage field emergencies and use field communication technologies and methods

Perform in capacity of Trip Leader and deliver Educational Programs, as needed

Manage budget for the Adventure Program

Oversee the maintenance of basecamp in partnership with other programs

Attend trade shows & events, as instructed by the Executive Director

Other duties, as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:

Excellent leadership, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Flexible, adaptable and open to change.

Strong personal motivation, initiative, follow-through and commitment.

Ability to deliver excellent customer service and interact with a wide variety of clientele, including culturally diverse groups and VIP clients.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Utah Guide license, with current WFR and CPR certification, or willingness to acquire.

Familiarity with the Colorado Plateau bioregion and ability to interpret its landscape, natural, and cultural history on a basic level.

Ability and willingness to lead river, backpack, hiking, service, research and other trips as needed.

Abilities in general maintenance and gear repairs including field troubleshooting.
Physical Abilities:

Ability to camp outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions

Ability to day hike or backpack with a pack up to 50 lbs., up to 12 miles per day

Ability to push/pull heavy equipment (i.e. rafts, trailers, tires, etc.) and perform repetitive motions such as rowing and/or paddling
